Paradise Hotel 2 - Finally After a 4 and a 1/2 year wait, PARADISE HOTEL 2, sequel to the semi-legendary 2003 reality series Paradise Hotel, premiers February 4/08. Paradise Hotel 2 will air at 9 p.m. ET on My Network TV. A Mature Adult version, exposing "even more steamy exclusive footage" will air at 1 a.m. ET on Fox Reality.Casting for Paradise Hotel 2 was low-key, with a single casting notice appearing on Craigslist in early June/07 for "fun, adventurous, outspoken, and competitive individuals between the ages of 21-30."The first Paradise Hotel was a 2003 Fox summer series about an odd-numbered group of young (twenties), heterosexual, single, men and women competing to stay in a luxurious hotel resort. The show was a big hit and got renewed for an additional 15 episodes (making 30 in total) while still filming, meaning the contestants had to be convinced to extend their stays. The single season continues in re-runs on Fox Reality and has built up a bit of a cult following.Each week co-ed couples paired up and shared a room. The person left without a partner had to leave, and was sometimes replaced by a new person. The series famously ended when the male and female winners (from different couples) were given the choice of splitting their $250,000 prize money with their partners or keeping it all for themselves. The guy split it with his partner, the girl stiffed long suffering Dave Kerpen.There's no doubt part of the lasting appeal of the original Paradise Hotel is its promotion of casual, promiscuous sex. There's also no doubt that it was this that limited the show's appeal to advertisers. After season 1 Fox found it hard to sell advertising for a second season. The producers, UK production company Mentorn ("which has produced various versions of the show around the world," according to Wikipedia), essentially re-did the same show with a blander cast and setting. Forever Eden premiered on Fox in 2004 and was pulled after 7 episodes, creating the famous Missing 18 - the number of Forever Eden episodes that are still out there - somewhere.With a 1 a.m. airtime for the Fox Reality version, you can't help but think the producers (and the two broadcasters) have asked themselves, why deny the people what they want? Instead of trying to soften the show's hard edges, embrace them. They seem to be courting titillation this time. You know this particular person, and the truth is they are just plain mean and they just continue to do really stupid, mind-boggling things. Hey, I understand. What I would lovingly recommend is this: meditate on the fact that people are not their actions.There are real laws of the Universe that we simply cannot escape. Have you ever heard of the Law of Attraction? What you give you get. The Irish have their own way of interpreting this law: "Who gossips with you will gossip of you." Think about this the next time you partake in a seemingly harmless dialogue at someone else's expense.One of the reasons many of you may still gossip may be boredom. This excuse says much about the person who considers slander as a way to round out the day. Think about what is going on in your own world. Do you have a family, a job, or a pet? What can you do that is constructive that will enhance these parts of your life? What can you do for yourself? The next time your attention goes to someone else, redirect your energies to ways to enhance the joy to those closest to you.Trouble can also arise when we seek approval from other people. If a discursive communication is instigated from someone that you admire or want to gain attention from, then you need to seriously reevaluate. Why do you want this person's approval? If they are in a position to help you in your career, you should be prepared to back away. You might be surprised when you stand up to people how they will react. You may get the respect you wanted all along. If not, you will be better off extracting this person from your networking list. Practice the winning combination of kindness and patience. The Universe will reward you when you least expect it.Bad habits are difficult to break, whether it is eating too much sugar, working too much or gossiping. These are not simply actions that you carry out. There is a deeper reason that you want to do these things. Reflection is necessary to get at the root of "why?" When you begin to stop yourself from doing something you feel very compelled to do, this is a great first step.When someone invites you to participate in a negative discussion about someone else, take a moment to reflect. Breathe. Think about all the parts of you that others do not know. Now think of the potential gossip target. Most likely, this person has many hidden parts that make up who they are. Think of how you are like this person. Some examples might be:You both have a job you are not crazy about.You both have families that need attention.You both have a mortgage to pay.You both would like genuine understanding.You both come from the same divine energy-our inner source.Next, imagine that you are this person. Begin breathing as if you are this targeted individual, and experience how you would feel if a group of people were saying disparaging remarks about you. This type of meditation will bring clarity in your chaotic environment. If you allow yourself to really live in the other person's shoes, it should not take more than a thoughtful moment to walk away.When you think about it, what connects us as human beings is suffering. We all have ups and downs in our lives. When we are in the midst of a challenging time we are coping with a down cycle, and we may act differently or appear out of character. If others judge our odd behavior during this time, and talk about it, they are not really hurting that us. We are just waiting for the wave that will carry us to the up cycle. The one who gossips hurts himself. There is no room for judgment when we are searching for ways to heal. What Are Oil Pastels? A popular medium with artists that many people might not be familiar with is oil pastels. Oil pastel (also referred to as a wax oil crayon) is a relatively new painting and drawing medium. Oil pastels consist of pigment mixed with a non-drying oil and wax binder. As the name implies, this medium combines the ease of drawing like pastels with the vibrancy of oil paints.The history of oil pastels is relatively new to the world of art. The first oil pastels were made in Japan in 1925 by the Sakura Crayon Company. Oil pastel evolved from the intended combination of the dustless, smooth, soft consistency of crayons with rich brightness of pastels. In 1949, influenced by artists Pablo Picasso and Henri Goetz, Henri Sennelier designed a professional version of the oil pastel. His formula created an oil pastel with a creamy consistency and a subtle color palette. Professional grade oil pastels feature ground pigments combined with a small amount of wax, softened with a smaller amount of acid-free oil, which gives the product its archival quality. Oil pastel paintings will harden slightly overtime, but being completely acid-free, won't form a hard outer skin.Today you can find many brands of oil pastel available in a variety of grades. The better the quality, the higher the ratio of pure pigment to its oil and wax binder. Better quality ingredients provide richer colors and finer technique. By using different strokes, pressure and what part of the pastel is being used, the artist can create different effects.There are various techniques that artists can use with oil pastels. One of the most common is called layering, which involves building layers of colors with oil pastel. Another popular technique is to use liquids such as turpentine or mineral spirits as a blending tool to create a wash effect similar to some watercolor paintings.Oil pastels never dry out completely, so you need to protect them.
